主要根據(jù)肉兔本身的質(zhì)量性狀或數(shù)量性狀在一個(gè)兔群內(nèi)個(gè)體表型值差異，選擇個(gè)體，淘汰低劣個(gè)體。常用的有剔除法、更優(yōu)法和總分法等3種。

(1)剔除法即對(duì)選擇的每個(gè)性狀都限定一個(gè)更低標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，只要有1個(gè)性狀低于該標(biāo)準(zhǔn)即予以淘汰。

(3)總分法對(duì)每個(gè)性狀根據(jù)優(yōu)劣進(jìn)行評(píng)分，將幾個(gè)性狀累汁，總分更高的個(gè)體即予留種。例如，某養(yǎng)兔場(chǎng)對(duì)一兔群進(jìn)行選擇，希望選出產(chǎn)仔率(L)高、早熟(M)、肉質(zhì)(Q)、毛皮品質(zhì)(P)好的個(gè)體留作種用。每個(gè)性狀根據(jù)優(yōu)劣分成10級(jí)，分別計(jì)分為]一10分。

肉兔的夏季繁殖：季氣候炎熱，尤其是南方各省，高溫多濕，肉兔食欲下降，體質(zhì)瘦弱，性機(jī)能不強(qiáng)，配種受胎率低，產(chǎn)仔數(shù)少。北方比南方好些。據(jù)生產(chǎn)實(shí)踐觀察，夏季公兔性欲不強(qiáng)，精子活力下降，密度降低，畸形精子數(shù)增加；母兔發(fā)情率為20％一40％，受胎率為30％一40％，平均每窩產(chǎn)仔數(shù)3—5只。即使產(chǎn)仔，因哺乳母兔天熱減食，泌乳量減少，仔兔瘦弱多病，成活率很低。但如母兔體質(zhì)健壯，又有遮蔭防暑條件，溫度低于32℃的地區(qū)，仍可適當(dāng)安排配種繁殖
