兔子出生后8個月左右，性發(fā)育成熟，當雌兔出現(xiàn)煩躁不安的現(xiàn)象是發(fā)情的征兆。交尾后雄兔會發(fā)出高亢的叫聲而昏迷，雌兔懷孕后應與雄兔分開。在籠內(nèi)鋪設(shè)稻草或其他干草，并用布將籠子圍起，盡量不要碰觸，讓雌兔保持安靜穩(wěn)定。一胎可產(chǎn)下5～6只小兔，食物或飲水不足時母兔可能吃掉小兔，經(jīng)過30天左右小兔即可離巢。
